Your Key Role & Responsibilities

  • Oversee and assist in onboarding for design Intern or Junior Designer as needed.

  • Provide oversight, training, guidance, and direction to Project Designers and Designers as required. 

  • Handles design requests assigned to ensure project deadline is achieved or exceeded.

  • Maintains open and proactive communication with sales team as it relates to specific projects.

  • Prepare finish palettes and presentations for project meetings.  

  • Directs design requests assigned to ensure project deadline is achieved or exceeded.

  • Maintains open and proactive communication with sales team as it relates to specific projects.

  • Direct and completes space planning, furniture specifications, 2D/3D drawings, bill of materials (BOM), renderings, budgets, and concept packages.

  • Communicates and oversee outsourced designs as it relates to your projects.

  • Efficiently adapts personal schedule to accommodate workload and deadlines.

  • Ensure quality of final product for aesthetics and visual details.

  • Provide accurate pricing, research, and document preparation.

  • Site visits, field verification, and client walk throughs as needed and applicable.

  • Confirms verified field conditions are updated and captured in AutoCAD.

  • Assess and verify electrical drawings calling out floor cores, wall feeds, outlets, data, etc.

  • Establish and completes furniture specification using design software, preparing bill of materials (BOM) for order entry.

  • Completes request for proposals (RFP) as needed.

  • Prepare detailed Installation drawings and review with Project Manager and Installer.

  • Flexibility to handle responsibilities on a variety of project types or projects in various stages of development.

  • Develop strategic goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work.

  • Lead or attend client meetings and finish meetings on site or virtually with end user.

  • Check select project acknowledgements with Project Manager or Project Coordinators to ensure accuracy.

  • Creates punch list orders as needed.

  • Continuously renews training with individual manufacturer’s to be knowledgeable of their products and specifications of their products. 

  • Be the main client contact and maintain existing accounts as needed.

  • Execute in accordance outlined ICE design audit process, to ensure all appropriate information is transferred between departments, and minimal revisions are needed.

  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

  • Assist with updating marketing materials as needed.

  • Host approved training sessions of key strengths within the Design team or company as requested.

  • Co-lead simplified product and Teknion training to the Sales, PM, and PC team 

  • Facilitate and organize product presentations, field trips to visit job sites, and internal trainings on processes as required.

  • Present design initiatives and information at team meetings.

  • Proactively share knowledge and office process suggestions to sales and design

  • Communicate design process updates and best practices to ICE via email and or team meetings 

  • Develop standards for software and deliverables as needed and assist in training the design team.

  • Establish and document processes and protocols to share with design team when necessary.

  • Audit projects for the Design team as needed. • Point of contact in the event of VP Design absence.

  • Provide oversight, guidance, and direction to Project Designers, Designers, or Junior Designers as required. 

  • Develop templates for improved efficiencies and processes within the design department.


Your background and Skills

  • Minimum 7-10+ years of interior design and commercial furniture dealership experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Industrial Design, Architectural Design, or a similar field is required. Master’s degree preferred.

  • NCIDQ preferred

  • Strong knowledge of interior design and current practices.

  • Expert knowledge and understanding of applicable building codes, ADA regulations, egress, and Title 24.

  • Strong knowledge of workplace trends (aesthetic, ergonomics, technology integration, workplace culture, etc.).

  • Thorough knowledge of the design process including space planning, color and material selection, FF&E, design development, and vendor management.

  • Strong conceptual design skills employing innovative ideas and materials.

  • Previous senior level experience including a wide range of scales and complexity in all phases of design.

  • Understanding of contract furniture processes, including specification development, order preparation, project management, order management and delivery/installation.

  • Expert in 2020 software (CAP, Worksheet, Visual Impressions), AutoCAD, and CET.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

  • Skillset in Bluebeam, InDesign, Photoshop, and SketchUp preferred.

  • Expert in product knowledge and resources of key manufacturers.

  • Maintain full time workload including special projects, trainings, process development, audits, and other initiatives.
