The Lead Installer (also referred to as Site Supervisor) oversees the on-site installation of commercial modular furniture systems from manufacturers such as such as Steelcase, Herman Miller, Knoll, and Teknion. This role leads a crew of 1–12 installers, ensuring safe, efficient, and accurate completion of projects while maintaining a professional and collaborative work environment. The Lead Installer serves as the primary jobsite contact for project managers, clients, and other trades, and plays a key role in training and mentoring team members.

Your Key Role & Responsibilities
Leadership & Coordination
Direct and supervise installation crews on active job sites, delegating daily tasks and ensuring efficient workflow.
Review installation drawings, floor plans, and manufacturer specifications; communicate layout and scope to the crew.
Provide hands-on leadership—working alongside the team while ensuring safety, quality, and productivity standards are met.
Train and coach less experienced installers on systems furniture assembly, proper technique in safely unpackaging and handling product, field problem-solving, and professional conduct.
Monitor site safety and enforce compliance with all company and job-specific safety regulations.
Installation & Technical Execution
Assemble, install, and reconfigure modular office systems, case goods, and ancillary products in accordance with plans and manufacturer standards.
Coordinate unloading, staging, and movement of product from trucks to installation zones.
Verify product accuracy, condition, and completeness; identify and report missing or damaged items.
Execute field modifications, punch list corrections, and adjustments as needed.
Ensure all installations are leveled, aligned, and visually consistent.
Communication & Documentation
Act as on-site liaison between field crew, project management, and client representatives.
Communicate schedule updates, field conditions, and potential delays promptly and constructively.
Complete daily progress reports, sign-offs, timesheets, and photos as required.
Maintain site cleanliness, organization, and professional appearance throughout the project, ensuring adherence to all project-specific site requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum 3–5 years of commercial furniture installation experience, including supervisory or lead responsibilities.
Working knowledge of major furniture systems (Steelcase, Herman Miller, Knoll, and Teknion.)
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and elevations.
Strong mechanical aptitude; proficient with hand and power tools.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; ability to operate box trucks preferred.
Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. and perform physical work for extended periods.
Preferences
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
Forklift or lift-equipment certification.
Experience with power/data routing in systems furniture.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
